Through the 10 year ban sheet metal MAK 90s were fetching about $450 with a few banana magazines. I have no idea what any simi-auto rifles sell for currently, but in 1993 sheet metal MAK 90s and BWK 92s with 5 round magazines were in the Shotgun News for $149. 233 and made of sheet metal they were BWK 92s. I don’t recall for sure if Norinco’s similar milled receiver rifles were named MAK 90 or something else, but when chambered for. The vast majority of MAK 90s had sheet metal receivers.

I have also bought the Norinco Hunter Types I, II and III. Its a ban era gun with a slant cut receiver and a thumbhole stock set. I have bought the de-fanged Norinco MAK-90s and the Norinco NHM-91s both stamped and milled, with the slanted cut in the receivers. Norinco primarily or maybe exclusively used the MAK 90 name for AKs that were modified to be importable after Papa Bush used the sporting purposes clause of the 1968 Gun Control Act to ban importation of “assault rifles.” The 1994 assault weapon ban continued to allow SKSs and MAK 90s into the country.
